The Apprentice

Creating a mobile game of The Apprentice was an exercise in scalable game design. Our high end builds weighed in at 500KB with a screen resolution of 240×320. Our lowest end build was 64k with a screen resolution of 96×65. With five original mini games, a cast of characters, cinematics, and one infamous catch phrase, there was a lot to squeeze in.

True to the structure of the show, the player is faced with tasks that test their multi-tasking, sales, and organizational skills. If the player fails to meet a challenge, they are summoned to the boardroom where they go face-to-face with Donald Trump. The game consists of five challenges: stadium vending, swap meet sales, sushi bar service, the boardroom, and the rock festival final challenge. To be The Apprentice, the player must earn The Donald’s favor by defeating their opponents and successfully completing the final task.
